History
Our History
The Wawa Family Health Team was approved in the 3rd wave of requests for proposals by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care in 2006. We became a non-profit Corporation in 2007 and with our funding agreement signed in October of that year we have since been working tirelessly to provide health care services to residents of Wawa and area.
Our Beginning
We were originally located in our temporary site at 36 Montreal Ave in Wawa and in July 2009 moved in to the old Wawa Medical Centre/physician’s offices at 17 Government Rd. within the Lady Dunn Health Centre. At the same time, we completed our amalgamation of the Wawa Medical Centre with the Wawa Family Health Team to now operate as one primary care team.
We haven’t looked back since and our progress continues. As you can see, in a short time we went from being a mere idea to a fully operational corporation within 4 years thanks to the dedicated effort of our board and staff and the patience and belief of our patients that we could do it; thanks for believing in us!
