The town itself abuts the inland shore of expansive Wawa Lake.

The town of Wawa boasts activities for the whole family in all seasons. Lake Superior Park is an 80 km long pristine park with numerous trails for hiking or canoeing and backcountry or car camping with the first route only 15 minutes away. Wawa also offers English and French primary and secondary schools.

The Lady Dunn Health Centre (LDHC) and WFHT serve a catchment area of approximately 5,000, including First Nation and Francophone populations.
